How payment works

  • 50% down payment when you start treatment
  • $200 per month instalments for the balance
  • Braces are not Medisave-claimable and not CHAS-subsidised — orthodontic treatment is classified as non-surgical, so no government subsidy applies at any clinic in Singapore

What affects the price

  • Bracket material — ceramic (tooth-coloured) brackets cost more than metal
  • Self-ligating vs regular — self-ligating brackets use a built-in clip instead of elastic ties, which can mean fewer adjustment visits
  • Extractions — if teeth need to be removed to create space, extractions are charged separately ($80–$250 per tooth)
  • Retainers — needed after any braces treatment to hold the result; charged separately

Frequently asked questions

How much do braces cost for students in Singapore?

At Garden Dental, student braces (for patients aged 16 and under at the start of treatment) start at $3,799 for regular metal braces, up to $5,499 for ceramic self-ligating braces. The package includes consultation, X-ray and scan, with a 50% down payment and $200 monthly instalments.

Can I use Medisave or CHAS for braces?

No. Braces are a non-surgical orthodontic treatment, so they are not Medisave-claimable and not CHAS-subsidised — this applies at every dental clinic in Singapore, not just ours. If cost is a concern, the monthly instalment plan spreads the balance at $200 per month.

What is included in the braces price?

The consultation, X-ray and digital scan are included. Tooth extractions (if your case needs them) and retainers after treatment are charged separately.

What is the difference between regular and self-ligating braces?

Self-ligating braces hold the wire with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties. This can reduce friction and may mean fewer adjustment appointments. At Garden Dental self-ligating adds $600 over the regular version, for both metal and ceramic.

Are ceramic braces worth the extra cost?

Ceramic brackets are tooth-coloured, so they are much less visible than metal — a common choice for working adults. Functionally both move teeth the same way; the difference is appearance. Ceramic adds $1,100 over the equivalent metal option.
